"Mother" - Embraced

The pendant shows the word "Umm", which is Arabic and means "Mother."

Modern calligraphy freed itself of many of the strict rules of traditional writing, yet remained true to the idea of visualizing the word in the composition. Many artists found a more emotional and less iconographic expression in the new freedom – as shown here, where one letter embraces the other in a sensually loving gesture.
